After Sunday’s victory against Carolina, I got a chance to ask New Orleans safety Darren Sharper about his contract situation.
He didn’t have anything real enlightening to say.
“I don’t think about that kind of stuff during the year,’’ Sharper said. “I’ll deal with it after the season. But, obviously, I do love it here.’’
That last part could come in handy for the Saints. They struck gold by signing Sharper to a one-year contract for the relatively-low price of $1.7 million. He’s having an outstanding season and, even at 33, has created a big market for himself.
I suspect the Saints will do everything in their power to make sure they keep Sharper.
