Time for a quick trip through some headlines from around the division:

ATLANTA FALCONS

Now that he’s made the 53-man roster, linebacker Paul Worrilow has switched his jersey number from 49 to 55.

CAROLINA PANTHERS

Fullback Mike Tolbert returned to practice Monday after being sidelined by an injury for nearly a month. Tolbert’s optimistic he can play in the regular-season opener and that would provide a big boost for the running game.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Sixth-round draft pick Rufus Johnson didn’t make the 53-man roster. But Johnson is back with the Saints as part of the practice squad.

Although the rivalry between New Orleans and Atlanta is heated, Saints linebacker Junior Galette pointed out it’s been pretty one-sided in recent years. The Saints have won 11 of the last 14 meetings.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

Gary Shelton brings up a good point about running back Doug Martin. He started slowly as a rookie before catching fire. Now that Martin’s comfortable in the offensive system, I expect him to get off to a much faster start.
