CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Observed in the locker room after the Carolina Panthers' 30-15 victory over the St. Louis Rams:

Smith
Anger: For one whose 800th career catch was a touchdown, wide receiver Steve Smith was obviously upset with some of the things Rams cornerback Janoris Jenkins said to him on the field, saying he would punch him in the face if they met on the street.

Hunger: Defensive end Greg Hardy apparently wasn't satisfied with getting to .500 for the first time under Ron Rivera this deep into the season. "I need another [win]. I'm not overly happy now.''

Explicit: Quarterback Cam Newton was trying to show Smith what he saw on the stadium big screen after Smith's 800th career catch, and explain how the wide receiver was too busy making "explicit'' comments about the Rams' cornerback to notice.

Happiness: General manager Dave Gettleman looked like he had just gotten what he wanted for Christmas as he walked through the locker room congratulating players.

Sweat: Rivera's forehead was dripping wet after a game in which there were four personal fouls and a lot of what was called "chippy'' play.
