Previewing NFC South Power Rankings

Posted by ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas

Our weekly Power Rankings will be out later today, but here's a preview.

I put three NFC South teams in my top 10. Call me a homer if you want, but I don't think it's that much of a stretch. I ranked Tampa Bay at No. 5. That's second in the NFC behind the No. 2 Giants. You can even make a case that Tampa Bay might be the best team in the NFC at the moment.

I put Carolina at No. 6. The Panthers bounced back nicely with a big win over New Orleans after a bad loss to Tampa Bay. With the midway point of the season approaching, it looks more and more like the Bucs and Panthers are going to be fighting for the top spot in the division all season.

And -- as of now -- you can't count the Falcons out. That's why I voted them No. 10. They're 4-2 and coming off a bye. They're healthy and rested. They've got a big game with Philadelphia coming up. If the Falcons win that, they really are a top 10 team.

I voted the Saints, the division's most disappointing team No. 23. They got destroyed by Carolina and the Panthers put at least a temporary halt to Drew Brees' most valuable player campaign.
