A weekly examination of the Buccaneers’ ESPN.com Power Ranking:
Preseason: 19 | Last week: 28 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002
Another week and another step up in the ESPN.com Power Rankings for the red-hot Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Bucs have won three in a row, and Sunday’s victory at Detroit (the first road victory of the season) pushed them from No. 28 to No. 27. If you’re going just by record, then the Bucs are right about where they belong.
But if you’re going by how they’re playing at the moment, I think the Bucs deserve to be a little higher. Right now, I think they’re better than teams like the Raiders and Browns. They’ve already beaten the Dolphins, who are No. 21.
The Bucs have upcoming games with the Buffalo Bills (No. 24) and St. Louis Rams (No. 19). If the Bucs can win those two and a few more, I think they’ve got a chance to crack the top 20 by the end of the season.
