NEW ORLEANS -- Pretty interesting note that reflects well on the NFC South from our friends at ESPN’s Stats & Information.
The Saints will be the eighth team to make its first Super Bowl appearance in the last 12 years, joining the Falcons in Super Bowl XXXIII, Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV, Ravens in Super Bowl XXXV, Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII, Panthers in Super Bowl XXXVIII, Seahawks in Super Bowl XL and Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII.
In case you didn’t catch the trend there, every NFC South team now has earned a Super Bowl berth. Yes, I know the NFC South didn’t exist when the Falcons made their Super Bowl run, but they’re an NFC South team now. The Buccaneers and Panthers made the Super Bowl in the first two seasons the NFC South existed.
