If you've followed the New Orleans Saints this season, you know they don't always do what they're supposed to do.
On Sunday, they did exactly what they were supposed to. They went out against the winless Lions and destroyed them. That sure beats the alternative, but it also did a couple of other things.
The New Orleans victory assures the NFC South of not having a team with a losing record. It also gives the Saints (8-7) a shot at a winning season. If that happens, however, the Saints can't get too caught up in the way they finished. They still need a defensive overhaul and a few upgrades on offense.
A win against Carolina next week isn't going to salvage very much, but it would send the Saints into the offseason on a winning streak, something that was way too rare in a season of inconsistency.
