It's been said that many teams will go to the end of the earth to find a player. The Falcons took that kind of literally. The team just announced it has signed offensive tackle Will Svitek.
He's a native of Prague in the Czech Republic. Svitek played at Stanford and was drafted by the Chiefs in the sixth round in 2005. He was waived by the Chiefs at the end of the 2008 preseason.
Svitek obviously isn't a big name and there's no guarantee he'll even stick with the Falcons. But after the recent retirement of tackle Todd Weiner, the Falcons are looking for depth on the offensive line. Svitek has appeared in 16 career games with four starts.
