The Bucs just announced they have re-signed defensive tackle Ryan Sims. This may not seem like a big move on the surface because Sims is a backup.
However, it could play into some bigger plans down the road and might be another signal that the Bucs plan to go hard after free-agent defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. Starter Jovan Haye is scheduled to be a free agent.
Chris Hovan is the other starter and the Bucs could be looking to pair him with Haynesworth. Sims was a first-round pick by Kansas City in 2002 and never lived up to his hype as a starter. But he's a decent backup and could fit into a rotation behind Haynesworth and Hovan.
