Report: Bucs fined for lockout violations

By Pat Yasinskas

The NFL hasn’t formally announced any fine against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for having prohibited contact with their players during the lockout. But the league’s official website is reporting that the Bucs have been fined.

Coach Raheem Morris previously admitted he had contact with several players during the lockout. Team officials said the league was investigating seven calls made by Morris to players. The team said most of the phone calls were very short.

Morris told the media two weeks ago the details on two of the phone calls. He said one was to congratulate tight end Kellen Winslow on the birth of a child. He said another was to cornerback Aqib Talib after he was charged with aggravated assault in a March incident in Texas. Talib has not been disciplined by the league for that incident. He is scheduled to go on trial next March and could face league discipline after the legal situation is resolved.
