Falcons' Roddy White leads NFL in drops
By Pat Yasinskas
Last year, Atlanta’s Roddy White led the NFL with 115 receptions. This year, White is leading the league in a category that’s not nearly as flattering.
According to ESPN Stats & Information, White leads the league with four dropped passes. That includes a huge drop late in Sunday’s loss to Tampa Bay. White dropped a well-thrown ball by Matt Ryan and appeared to have a clear path to the end zone if he had hung on.
Last year, White dropped only three passes all season and his first drop didn’t come until his 99th target.
Drops have been a big issue for several NFC South teams. Tampa Bay’s Arrelious Benn is alone in second place behind White with three drops.
The Buccaneers are tied for second in the league with six team drops. Atlanta is tied for fourth place with five drops. The Saints and Panthers are tied for 12th place with four drops each.
