Matt Ryan NFC Offensive Player of Week
By Pat Yasinskas
NFC South quarterbacks have become the trendy choice for NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
The NFL just announced that Atlanta’s Matt Ryan was the winner for Week 14. Carolina’s Cam Newton won the award in Week 13 and New Orleans’ Drew Brees earned it in Week 12.
Ryan was honored after leading the Falcons to a comeback victory against the Panthers on Sunday. In that game, Ryan led the Falcons to 24 unanswered points and tied his career high with four touchdown passes.
That game also marked the 16th time in his career that Ryan has led the Falcons on a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter or in overtime. Ryan finished the day with a 120.5 NFL passer rating. The Falcons are now 21-0 in games in which Ryan has a passer rating better than 100.
