Fujita 'dragged into' Saints' scandal
By Pat Yasinskas
Linebacker Scott Fujita left the Saints for the Cleveland Browns after the 2009 Super Bowl, but you can’t take the New Orleans out of Fujita.
A fan favorite who was very active in the community during his time in New Orleans, Fujita reportedly is being “dragged into’’ what the NFL says was a “bounty program’’ in which Saints players and defensive coordinator Gregg Williams put money into a pool to reward defensive players for injuring opponents. The league has said anywhere from 22 to 27 players were involved.
We don’t yet know what Fujita’s alleged involvement is, but it’s not really a surprise that his name is coming up. That could happen with other former New Orleans defenders and certainly current ones.
