All four NFC South venues are in the top 25 sports cities, according to Sporting News’ annual Best Sports Cities rankings.
Atlanta tops the NFC South cities at No. 13. The rankings are based on professional and college teams in all sports in each market. Pittsburgh is No. 1 overall.
Tampa-St. Petersburg was just behind Atlanta at No. 15. Yes, the Bucs are winless and the Rays didn’t make the playoffs, but this poll factored in last year and the Rays’ road to the World Series was a big reason why the region rated highly.
Charlotte and New Orleans are rated only slightly behind the other NFC South cities. Charlotte is ranked No. 23 and New Orleans is No. 25.
Here’s the complete list.
