Corey Peters to miss first six games
By Pat Yasinskas
Atlanta defensive tackle Corey Peters will miss at least the first six games of the regular season.
The Falcons just announced that Peters will begin the season on the reserve/non-football injury list. Peters has been sidelined all preseason by a foot injury. He’ll be eligible to begin practicing after the sixth game of the season and the Falcons then will have three weeks to decide if they want to activate him.
This likely means that Peria Jerry will be the starter next to Jonathan Babineaux. A first-round draft pick in 2009, Jerry suffered a major knee injury in his rookie season and has been a backup the past two seasons. But Jerry has looked good so far this preseason. Rookie Travian Robertson and Vance Walker would appear to be in line for spots in the rotation as backups.
The Falcons also announced they have waived quarterback John Parker Wilson. That apparently clears the way for undrafted rookie Dominique Davis to make the roster as the third quarterback behind Matt Ryan and Chris Redman.
