Getting ready for Saints and Broncos
By Pat Yasinskas
For most of the afternoon, it looked like the NFC South had a chance to come out of Week 8 with four teams winning. That would have been a first for this season.
But the Carolina Panthers lost, 23-22, as the Chicago Bears kicked a last-second field goal. Courtesy of ESPN Stats & Information, you can see the statistical breakdown of how the Panthers lost here. However, I’ll share one quick stat with you now. The Panthers entered the game with an all-time 57-2 record in games in which they’ve had a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter. That record now is 57-3.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won at Minnesota on Thursday night. The Atlanta Falcons won at Philadelphia on Sunday.
In a season in which only the Falcons have had much success, the NFC South still has a chance to come out of the week with three victorious teams.
The New Orleans Saints, who are on a two-game winning streak, play at Denver on Sunday night. I’ll check in with halftime observations on the Saints and a wrap-up as soon as the game is over.
