Southern exposure for Week 9
By Pat Yasinskas
The NFC South will get lots of television exposure in Week 9.
The Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints each have prime-time games that will be broadcast nationally. The Falcons host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night on NBC. The Saints host the Philadelphia Eagles on ESPN on Monday night.
Even the games involving the NFC South’s other two teams will be available to pretty large television audiences. Let’s take a look at the map of which games will be shown in which television markets.
Although the Carolina Panthers are 1-6, their 1 p.m. ET game on FOX (with Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston and Tony Siragusa) will get huge exposure. I think it’s safe to say that has a lot more to do with the Redskins and Robert Griffin III than it does with the Panthers. The game will be shown in the Mid-Atlantic region, much of the Northeast, most of the Southeast and throughout almost all of Texas.
The Sunday late-afternoon game (FOX with Dick Stockton and John Lynch) between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders won’t be as widely available as the game between the Panthers and the Redskins, but still will get some decent play. It will air in Central Florida, Northern California, part of Nevada and throughout all of Colorado.
