Saints, Falcons still going at it

By Pat Yasinskas

Almost 48 hours since the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons played Sunday, the two NFC South rivals still are going at it.

Ed Werder reports that New Orleans linebackers Scott Shanle and Jonathan Vilma say Atlanta linebacker Sean Weatherspoon and defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux deliberately interfered with the Saints’ pregame warm-up routine.

Shanle also told Yahoo! Sports that the Falcons were taunting current New Orleans linebacker Curtis Lofton, who used to play for the Falcons.

Atlanta coach Mike Smith declined to comment on the Saints’ claims. Perhaps the most interesting thing about all this is that Shanle and Weatherspoon weren’t even active for Sunday’s game.

It just goes to show how heated this rivalry is. Throw the latest episode on top of some strong verbal shots by Lofton and Atlanta receiver Roddy White after Sunday’s game and it should only make the Nov. 29 rematch in the Georgia Dome even more interesting than a typical meeting between the Saints and Falcons. I think I'm going to go ahead and book my trip to Atlanta for that game right now.
