Bucs' David is Rookie of the Month
By Pat Yasinskas
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are cleaning up on the monthly awards for November from the NFL. We told you a few minutes ago that Dekoda Watson was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month.
The NFL followed that up by announcing linebacker Lavonte David has been named Defensive Rookie of the Month.
David is the first player in Tampa Bay history to earn this honor, which is significant because the Bucs have had some amazing defensive talent through the years. It also says a lot about Tampa Bay’s draft class, because Doug Martin was the Offensive Rookie of the Month for October.
David led the NFL with 47 tackles in November, including a league-high 40 solo tackles. Five of his tackles were for a loss.
David recorded at least eight tackles in all four November games as Tampa Bay held opponents to a league-best 75.3 rushing yards per game in November.
