NFC South links: CB Grimes to Dolphins?
By ESPN.com staff
Falcons free-agent cornerback Brent Grimes could soon land with the Dolphins. NFL.com's Dan Hanzus has the story.
The Panthers have signed former Giants linebacker Chase Blackburn, writes Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer. Last season, Blackburn played in 15 games and tallied three sacks and 61 tackles.
South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore worked out for NFL scouts on Wednesday with a brace on his surgically repaired right knee, writes Max Henson of the Panthers' website. The injury occurred Oct. 27, and after the workout there was immediate applause. Among those in attendance was Panthers cornerback Captain Munnerlyn, a former Gamecock. "That dude is doing stuff I can't do now," Munnerlyn said of Lattimore.
New Orleans Saints
Former Dallas defensive end Marcus Spears, who played for Rob Ryan while with the Cowboys, says the Saints are going to love their new defensive coordinator. "They are going to realize that they have a coach that listens to his players, who's energetic and very approachable," Spears said. Nakia Hogan of the Times-Picayune has the story.
LSU pass-rusher Barkevious Mingo would be a good pick for the Saints, who hold the 15th selection in next month's NFL draft, writes Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. When asked about how Mingo has been described as a "boom or bust" NFL prospect, former LSU and Philadelphia Eagles assistant Pete Jenkins said, "I don't see it that way. I see him being a damn sure 'make-it' guy." Jenkins compared Mingo to former NFL star Jevon Kearse.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
At least one mock draft has the Bucs selecting Florida State cornerback Xavier Rhodes in the first round. Brian Galliford of SB Nation has more.
