Around the NFC South

By Pat Yasinskas

Let's start the week off with a trip through some of the headlines from around the division:

ATLANTA FALCONS

Receiver Roddy White has a history of producing strong numbers in December, Daniel Cox points out. White’s a clutch receiver and his late-season production is one of the reasons the Falcons have had five straight winning seasons.

CAROLINA PANTHERS

Fifth-round pick A.J. Klein should get some playing time for the Panthers as a rookie. He can play all three linebacker positions and he also is likely to be a regular on special teams.

The Panthers have signed University of Calgary defensive lineman Linden Gaydosh after he had a strong showing during a tryout at the team’s rookie camp. The Panthers are expected to sign several more players who tried out.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Larry Holder reports the Saints have signed two players that tried out at their rookie camp -- Southern Illinois cornerback Korey Lindsay and Louisiana-Monroe receiver Brent Leonard.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

Pat Kirwan ranks Gerald McCoy among the league’s best 4-3 three-technique defensive tackles. Kirwan said there were times last year when McCoy was the best in the league at his position.
