Wiretapping could bring stiff penalty
By Pat Yasinskas
What started as a prank has turned into a very serious matter for two Massachusetts men.
The two reportedly are facing federal wiretapping charges for recording a conversation between Tampa Bay general manager and former Buffalo general manager Buddy Nix in March. The men reportedly set the call up by making a series of phone calls to the offices of each team.
The men reportedly sold the recording to a website and it went viral. The only real revelation in the conversation was that Nix was looking to unload quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, which later happened. Dominik didn't reveal much other than confirming that running back LeGarrette Blount was available for trade, which was widely reported prior to the conversation. Blount later was traded to New England.
Sounds like the two men went to great lengths to gain something that wasn’t all that enlightening or funny. Now, they could pay a stiff price. They could face up to five years in prison if they’re convicted.
