Adding injury to insult for Redskins
By Pat Yasinskas
LANDOVER, Md. -– I just posted an item over on our news side about Washington fullback Mike Sellers being taken to the hospital with a hip injury.
By chance, I was walking from the Saints’ locker room back to the press box when I passed the Washington locker room as Sellers (on crutches) was being led to an ambulance. He was placed inside and the ambulance drove off.
I just got a Redskins’ official to confirm that Sellers had been taken to the hospital for “precautionary reasons.’’ We’ll see what comes of this and I’ll hand it off to NFC East colleague Matt Mosley to monitor. Note to Matt, some people who saw Sellers in the locker room said he visibly was in pain. I’ll second that. Even after he got settled in the ambulance the pain still was obvious.
Usually, we don’t do injury reports on other divisions in this space. But I made an exception here because Sellers’ injury apparently came on one of the biggest plays of the game. On the third play of overtime, he lost a fumble that the Saints recovered and it led to a game-winning field goal by New Orleans.
