Strong winds could slow Brees

TAMPA, Fla. -- The weather may be able to do what defenses around the league haven't.

Brees

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees and his pass-happy offense could be facing some big obstacles at Raymond James Stadium today. It's already getting nasty out here with gusty winds becoming steadier and stronger. But that may be just a prelude of things to come.

Forecasters are saying there's a front moving in from the Gulf of Mexico that should bring heavy rain to the Tampa Bay region sometime around halftime of this game. If the weather turns out to be as bad as forecasters are saying, the Saints could have problems sticking with their normal offense, which relies almost totally on the pass.

They may have to turn to a running game that hasn't been very consistent. But the good news is it appears running back Reggie Bush will play after sitting out the last four games with a knee injury. We should have official word on Bush's status within the hour.

By the way, Tampa Bay's defense hasn't allowed a quarterback to throw for 300 yards in a game since Brees did it in the season opener.
