NFC South: explosive plays

Maybe it has something to do with the fact his team plays Atlanta on Sunday, but Minnesota coach Brad Childress called the Falcons the league's most explosive offense Wednesday.

And he's got the numbers to back it up.

Childress keeps stats on what he considers "explosive" plays. To qualify, a running play has to go for 12 yards or more and a pass play has to go for at least 16 yards.

In that system, the Falcons have 43 runs and 62 passes that qualify as "explosive" plays. According to Childress, the Falcons lead the NFL with 105 "explosive" plays.
