NFC South: Jarriett Buie
The Bucs have topped the rest of the division by getting their roster down to 52 players, one less than the league maximum. That’s because safety Tanard Jackson has been placed on the suspended list for the first four games of the season.
The Bucs released tackle Anthony Alabi, cornerback Kyle Arrington, defensive tackle Chris Bradwell, center Rob Bruggeman, defensive end Jarriett Buie, safety Steve Cargile, receiver Patrick Carter, defensive tackle Rashaad Duncan, defensive end Louis Holmes, running back Kareem Huggins, cornerback Darrell Hunter, tackle James Lee, tight end Jason Pocias, tight end Ryan Purvis, linebacker Bo Ruud and receiver Mario Urrutia. Safety Donte Nicholson was waived with an injury settlement.
Tackle Xavier Fulton was placed on the injured reserve list.
Kicker Matt Bryant, fullback Jameel Cook, receiver Cortez Hankton and receiver Marcus Maxwell had their contracts terminated.

On this busy day of resignations and trades in the NFC South, we’ve collected some other transactions that weren’t quite capable of standing alone on this blog.
But put them all together and you get, well, this:
The Bucs signed defensive end Jarriett Buie, who they released Aug. 29, and claimed center Jonathan Compas off waivers from the Oakland Raiders. The Bucs also waived defensive back Marshall McDuffie and guard Ryan Schmidt. The Panthers waived defensive tackle Lonnie Harvey and placed safety Nate Salley on injured reserve.
The Bucs just sent out a release announcing a series of roster moves.
A day after completing a three-day minicamp for rookies that included a bunch of undrafted players getting tryouts, the Bucs have signed defensive end Jarriett Buie, receiver Pat Carter, offensive lineman Marc Dile, tackle Demar Dotson, running back Kareem Huggins, receiver Amari Jackson and cornerback Evan McCollough.
To clear roster space for those players, the Bucs have released receiver Paris Warren, tackle Andre Douglas and cornerback Greg Fassitt.
