The New Orleans Saints will be without tight end Jeremy Shockey tonight.

Shockey, who has turf toe has been declared inactive. The other players on the inactive list for the Saints are defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis, cornerback Jabari Greer, kicker John Carney, safety Usama Young, cornerback Marcus McCauley, linebacker Anthony Waters and guard Jamar Nesbit.

Guess who is the Saints' No. 3 QB?

ATLANTA -- The Saints just listed their inactives for today and there's one interesting twist.

It's really nothing more than a formality, but receiver Lance Moore is listed as the third quarterback. Technically, that means he could enter the game if Drew Brees and Mark Brunell are injured, but I don't think the Saints want Moore taking any snaps. Brees and Brunell are the only quarterbacks on New Orleans' roster.

Kicker John Carney, running back Mike Bell, cornerbacks Tracy Porter, Jabari Greer and Marcus McCauley and linebackers Marvin Mitchell and Scott Fujita are inactive.

Wrapping up Tuesday's transactions

There were a whole bunch of minor transactions around the NFC South on Tuesday. Here’s a quick roundup.

The Saints signed cornerback Marcus McCauley and waived cornerback Chris McAlister. The Saints also placed linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar on injured reserve. The summary on this one is that McAlister, who the Saints signed a couple weeks ago, was really old and it showed when he had to play. McCauley’s nothing special and didn’t live up to his status as a third-round pick in 2007 by Minnesota, but he can at least move.

The Falcons signed running back Verron Haynes and tight end Jason Rader and released receiver Troy Bergeron while placing linebacker Tony Gilbert on injured reserve. Nothing major here, Haynes has bounced on and off the roster this year. Rader was with the Falcons last year and was in training camp this summer.

As expected, the Bucs went ahead and placed return man Clifton Smith on injured reserve after his second concussion of the season. They filled his roster spot by elevating running back Kareem Huggins from the practice squad. Look for rookie receiver Sammie Stroughter to take over the return duties.

The Bucs announced this afternoon that fullback B.J. Askew has been placed on the injured-reserve list.

That means Earnest Graham, who had been a backup running back behind Cadillac Williams, will slide over and take Askew’s role as the starting fullback. The Bucs also signed cornerback Marcus McCauley and released cornerback Derrick Roberson. They later re-signed Roberson to the practice squad. Graham had shared backup running back duties with Derrick Ward, but it’s likely Ward will now get almost all the work as Williams’ backup.

Askew suffered neck injuries in a car accident last week. Speaking of car wrecks, the Bucs play the Patriots in London on Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers obviously weren’t set on their roster when they made their cuts Sunday. They just added two guys Sunday afternoon.

The Bucs claimed defensive back William Middleton off waivers from Atlanta and defensive end Maurice Evans off waivers from the New York Giants. Tampa Bay also put in claims for five other players (cornerback Brandon Anderson, defensive end Tim Crowder and defensive back Marcus McCauley, punter A.J. Trapasso and defensive back Marvin White), but weren’t able to get them.
