Time for a quick trip through the most important injuries in the NFC South.
Atlanta left tackle Sam Baker sat out Wednesday’s practice with an ankle injury. Keep an eye on this one as the week goes on because it could mean an easy day for Carolina defensive end Julius Peppers.
Good thing the Panthers had to move their practice indoors because they probably didn’t have enough backfield guys to get through a regular practice. Fullback Brad Hoover and running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart all sat out. If I had to guess, Williams and Stewart were just getting a little rest. But I think there’s a good chance Hoover could miss at least another game.
Receivers Michael Clayton and Antonio Bryant each sat out Wednesday. Why don’t the Bucs just go ahead and make Sammie Stroughter and Maurice Stovall the full-time starters?
New Orleans safety Darren Sharper missed practice with a knee injury. Coach Sean Payton wouldn’t give any specifics on the injury, but said he’s optimistic Sharper will play Sunday.
