NFC South: Sean Locklear

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith said a roster move would be made once the team placed left tackle Sam Baker on injured reserve.

The move apparently is the addition of veteran tackle Sean Locklear, although the transaction wasn't immediately announced. Locklear's name was taped across a locker with the No. 77 written on the tape.

As reported by ESPN.com on Tuesday, the Falcons worked out Locklear along with fellow veteran tackle Rashad Butler.

Locklear, 32, is a former third-round draft pick of the Seattle Seahawks out of NC State. He last played for the New York Giants and has 92 starts in nine seasons with the Seahawks, Redskins and Giants. The 6-foot-5, 310-pound Locklear started all 19 games during Seattle's 2005 Super Bowl season.

Locklear previously said in an interview with the New York Giants' team website that he prefers to play right tackle. The Falcons already have one aging veteran at that position in Jeremy Trueblood, who was recently benched in favor of Lamar Holmes but is back in the starting lineup due to Baker's injury. Holmes is now the starter at left tackle.

Baker is set to undergo knee surgery after missing five of nine games this season.
