Arizona: The Cardinals are relatively healthy now that Kurt Warner's concussion issues have subsided. Receivers Anquan Boldin and Steve Breaston appear healthier than they were earlier in the season. That makes them more dangerous. Breaston unexpectedly missed the Week 1 game against the 49ers. His speed helps the Cardinals quite a bit. Arizona seems to be weathering a potentially tenuous injury situation in its front seven. Karlos Dansby's ability to play and play well against Minnesota was a good sign for the team after he suffered a shoulder injury against the Titans.
St. Louis: The Rams might be riding Steven Jackson into the ground, but Jackson keeps finding ways to produce on game days. Without him, the team's already struggling offense might not score another touchdown. Fullback Mike Karney might return from a neck injury this week. Jackson has missed him. Tight end Billy Bajema made a couple nice blocks serving as the fullback against Chicago, but Karney is much more consistently effective. The concussion afflicting rookie tackle Jason Smith must be troubling for him personally and for his development on the field. The Rams envisioned him growing into a front-line player over the second half of the season. Losing free safety Oshiomogho Atogwe to a season-ending shoulder injury makes the Rams less likely to force turnovers. Atogwe had a knack for forcing fumbles after opponents made big plays. Receiver Donnie Avery is banged up. He has had trouble producing when injured.
San Francisco: The 49ers expect to get left tackle Joe Staley back from a knee injury. His replacement, Barry Sims, has fared much better than anyone could have anticipated. Staley could need some adjustment time once he returns. There will be no grace period, however, as the 49ers face a division game against the Cardinals on Monday Night Football. The 49ers will be without Nate Clements and they could miss him. Clements always seemed to fare well against the Cardinals. Larry Fitzgerald averaged 99.6 yards receiving per game against the 49ers in his first six games against them. That average has fallen to 64.8 yards per game since Clements signed with the 49ers before the 2007 season.
Seattle: The Seahawks are relatively healthy this week. The team is giving quarterback Matt Hasselbeck rest while he battles through shoulder soreness. Hasselbeck has shown admirable toughness by playing through pain and not citing it as a potential limiting factor. Seattle might find more touches for running back Justin Forsett this week as his thigh injury improves. On defense, Cory Redding is back from a concussion. He can be an important player against the run, but Week 14 opponent Houston is averaging only 3.4 yards per attempt, which would be its lowest average since 2002, the Texans' inaugural season.
