Matt asks via Facebook: Hey Mike, I keep saying how the Niners have been within a TD in every game this year other than the Atlanta game. I think their seven losses minus the Atlanta game are by a combined 29 points. Do you have or can you make a chart showing the teams in the NFC West individually and as a division vs. the rest of the league about the average number of points their losses have been by? I hope you understand what I'm getting at. Thanks.
Mike Sando: This is how we measure excellence in the NFC West! I crunched the numbers for NFC West teams and the 49ers have been even less bad than you thought. Their six defeats beyond the Atlanta game were by a combined 26 points. I didn't crunch numbers for the rest of the league. It could be done rather easily. I just do not have it handy.
