Seahawks trade down again in Round 2

RENTON, Wash. -- The pick: The Seahawks sent the No. 40 pick, which they received Thursday form Minnesota, and pick No. 146 in Round 5 to Detroit for pick No. 45 in Round 2, No. 111 in Round 4 and No. 227 in Round 7.

My take: The Seahawks watched three players go off the board at the start of Round 2 -- UCLA guard Xavier Su'a-Filo, Boise State defensive end Demarcus Lawrence and Nevada offensive tackle Joel Bitonio -- that they might have selected, so they opted to trade down for the second time in this draft and added another pick, giving them eight overall.

Su'a-Filo would have helped: As it turns out, Seattle wasn't close to getting the big guard from UCLA at No. 40. He was the first player picked in Round 2, going to the Texans. Obviously, Seattle would have had to keep the last pick of Round 1 to get him.

What's next: The second-round pick from Detroit at No. 45.
