Shaun Hill has completed nine of his first 11 passes for the 49ers as San Francisco has taken a 7-0 lead against the Jets.
Hill's steady play has helped the 49ers avoid mistakes on offense. The question becomes how much Hill must show to become the starter next season. If Hill performs at his current level through the remaining games, can the 49ers afford to assume he'll be their guy? How much should they invest in alternatives at the position?
I think it's too early to say, but the more Hill plays, the stronger case he seems to make. Leading the 49ers past the Jets would certainly help.
