I broke into Tim Graham's AFC East blog and made away with this chart showing how many starters each NFL team has used through 15 games this season.
The Seahawks have used the most. New England is the only team to use more than 39 starters while being assured of a winning record. That is no small feat.Arizona's good health has helped the Cardinals maintain continuity while removing injuries from the list of potential reasons for their fade from 7-3 to 8-7.
The Cardinals are the only team in the division to start the same five offensive linemen every week. They are the only team in the division to start the same quarterback every week.
Thirteen NFL teams have used 35 or fewer starters this season. Each of those teams has a winning record. Fourteen teams have used more than 38 starters this season. Ten of the 14 have losing records.
The 49ers have changed starters by choice in several instances. Off the top of my head, they benched:
- J.T. O'Sullivan for Shaun Hill;
- Adam Snyder for David Baas;
- Tony Wragge for Chilo Rachal;
- Jeff Ulbrich for Takeo Spikes.
The 49ers' varied approaches to defense have also affected lineup changes involving Ray McDonald, Parys Haralson, Manny Lawson, and Dashon Goldson.
The Seahawks have used eight starting combinations on their offensive line. That includes four right guards, three left tackles, two right tackles, two centers and two left guards.
Ten offensive linemen have started for Seattle this season: Walter Jones, Mike Wahle, Chris Spencer, Rob Sims, Ray Willis, Floyd Womack, Seah Locklear, Steve Vallos, Mansfield Wrotto and Kyle Williams.
