The New York Jets have parted with 14 players who were on their 53-man roster or injured reserve for Week 17 last season.

Eight of the 14 play or played in the NFC West.

That's why Kris Jenkins' comments about finding "real men come in and step in for the women that we lost" caught my attention.

The 14: Larry Izzo, Marques Douglas, Ryan Fowler, James Dearth, Leon Washington, Alan Faneca, Howard Green, Jay Feely, Marques Murrell, Wallace Wright, Kerry Rhodes, Donald Strickland, Thomas Jones and Lito Sheppard.

The eight with NFC West ties: Douglas, formerly of the San Francisco 49ers; Washington, acquired by the Seattle Seahawks; Faneca, signed by the Arizona Cardinals; Green, formerly of the Seahawks; Feely, signed by the Cardinals; Rhodes, acquired by the Cardinals; Strickland, formerly of the 49ers; and Jones, formerly of the Cardinals.

What Jenkins said unfairly maligned some or all of the 14 players. Here's hoping he gets a little more specific.
