Boldin's production, toughness and leadership are well established. His ongoing fight against management did not prevent the Cardinals from reaching Super Bowl XLIII. Along the way, Larry Fitzgerald proved he could carry the offense with or without Boldin on the field.
Boldin remains under contract for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. His salaries are $2.75 million for 2009 and $3 million for 2010. Boldin, 28, can become an unrestricted free agent in February 2011 if the Cardinals decide against naming him their franchise player (assuming the league has a collective bargaining agreement featuring a franchise player designation).
How would you proceed if you were the Cardinals? Would you trade him or make him play out his contract? If you were to issue a team statement on the matter, what would it say?
