Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt and quarterback Derek Anderson addressed accuracy issues for Anderson during their media sessions Monday.
That aspect of Anderson's game stands as a primary concern, I think. Anderson threw high for Early Doucet and behind Stephen Williams during the exhibition game against the Chicago Bears. It's only exhibition play, but inaccuracy has been a concern for Anderson in the past.
Whisenhunt and Cardinals quarterbacks coach Chris Miller are stressing footwork with Anderson. Whisenhunt, speaking during an interview available on video here, said footwork is even more important for tall quarterbacks (Anderson stands 6-foot-6).
"That's something we'll continue to work on," Anderson told reporters.
Getting Larry Fitzgerald back at practice this week should help. Fitzgerald doesn't need a perfectly delivered ball to make receptions. I'm expecting Fitzgerald's yards-per-catch average to increase after a down 2009 season in that category. Anderson might not be known for accuracy, but he has a very strong arm and that should become evident quickly.
