Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch says a deal between the Rams and free-agent center Jason Brown appears imminent.

Steve Korte of the Belleville News-Democrat hopes the Rams sign free-agent center Jason Brown. Korte: "Brown is reportedly seeking a deal worth $8 million a year after turning down more than $6 million a year to remain with the Ravens. ... Let's hope that Brown's free-agency tour is over after the first stop."

Nicholas Cotsonika of the Detroit Free Press says the Lions met with Maurice Morris and could soon have an agreement with the former Seattle running back. Cotsonika: "NFL.com reported the Lions reached a three-year, $7 million deal with Morris. A person familiar with negotiations said the deal was not done but could be tonight or Saturday. Team spokesman Bill Keenist said the Lions have nothing to announce."

The Orlando Sentinel quotes Kurt Warner on the quarterback's future. Warner, speaking at an ESPN event: "In the perfect world I'd like to be back in an Arizona Cardinal uniform and I'd like to make another run at a championship. My own goal in playing longer is to help the Cardinals establish something they can carry on when I'm done playing."

Also from the Sentinel: Warner reaches out to Tim Tebow.

Matt Maiocco of the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat expects Takeo Spikes to re-sign with the 49ers, based on a foxsports.com report.

Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee refers to the same report on Spikes. Barrows: "Spikes had an excellent season in 2008, finishing second on the team in tackles and pairing well with youngster Patrick Willis."

The Orlando Sentinel quotes 49ers tight end Vernon Davis on Mike Singletary. Davis: "This will be his [Singletary's] first full season I'm looking forward to it. He certainly makes it clear what he expects. I don't anticipate any problems."
