Goodell: No plans to curb early wakeup calls

DANA POINT, Calif. -- Updating an earlier item, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell sounded unlikely to rush into action to eradicate 10 a.m. PT kickoffs from West Coast teams' schedules.

I asked Goodell about the matter during his recently completed news conference at the NFL owners' meeting Wednesday. Goodell isn't yet convinced East Coast teams enjoy an additional advantage against Western teams forced to play early games.

"We have not seen specific information to show us that there is an advantage," Goodell said. "It's something we'll continue to evaluate. Hopefully, if it is necessary, we'll make the proper changes."

Where is Mike Holmgren when you need him? I think he might be able to provide some "specific information" or at least anecdotal evidence -- although one leading scholar did once provide specific information suggesting otherwise.
