Gridiron Challenge: Bye-week blues

Bye weeks for Frank Gore and Chris Johnson in particular will shake up fantasy rosters as the ESPN.com Blog Network Gridiron Challenge enters Week 9.

I had both running backs on my roster and replaced one of them with the New York Giants' Ahmad Bradshaw, whose date with an injury-depleted Seattle Seahawks defensive line appears attractive on paper.

Seattle's defense could offer opportunities for the Giants' passing game as well. The Seahawks have allowed 12 pass plays of at least 30 yards this season, tied with Houston for most in the league, according to ESPN Stats & Information. The San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals have each allowed 11 this season.

The Giants and St. Louis Rams are among four teams to have allowed fewer than five. The Rams' defense heads into its bye week after scoring 20 fantasy points at a bargain price in Week 8. My team says thanks.

The chart shows the top 10 scorers from among more than 3,600 entrants in the Blog Network competition, plus a few others. Yes, my wife's team is still beating my team, but she's getting cocky and has probably jinxed herself.
