Where NFC West teams rank: Week 15

12/21/2010

A few highlights regarding where NFC West teams rank in various statistical categories through Week 15:

  • The Arizona Cardinals' defense moved up one spot to No. 1 in the rate at which it prevents touchdowns once opponents reach the red zone. This stat can be telling if a team is at least decent in other areas. The Cardinals ranked no higher than 23rd in any of the other defensive categories I've singled out for these weekly updates.

  • The San Francisco 49ers improved to seventh in rushing yards allowed per game after San Diego leaned heavily on its passing game to beat San Francisco 34-7.

  • The St. Louis Rams' defense continues to rank among the top 10 in sacks per pass attempt and third-down conversion rate.

  • The Seattle Seahawks' rush defense did not improve in the rankings despite a solid performance against Atlanta in that area.
