Now that NFL post-draft camps have passed, league rules prevent most rookies from joining their teams until May 16 or until their colleges have held final examinations, whichever comes later. Those final three words will affect some rookies more than others.

I'll continue by looking at how the NFL's rookie rule affects the Rams' draft choices, listed below by round. The Rams hold their next camp beginning May 19. Their final camp ends June 17. Training camps generally begin in late July.
1. Jason Smith, T, Baylor. Graduation May 15. Finals May 6-12.
2. James Laurinaitis, LB, Ohio State. Graduation June 14. Finals June 8-11. Laurinaitis graduated in December. He can join the team May 16.
3. Bradley Fletcher, CB, Iowa. Graduation May 16. Finals May 11-15.
4. Darell Scott, DT, Clemson. Graduation May 8. Finals April 27-May 1.
5. Brooks Foster, WR, North Carolina. Graduation May 10. Finals April 29-May 7.
6. Keith Null, QB, West Texas A&M. Graduation May 9. Finals May 1-7.
7. Chris Ogbonnaya, RB, Texas. Graduation May 22. Finals May 13-19. Ogbonnaya has already graduated. He can join the team May 16.
