The day ahead: Bound for Chicago

SEATTLE -- NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert is setting the travel standard this weekend by heading from his home in Minnesota to Atlanta for one playoff game Saturday, then catching a flight to Chicago in time for another playoff game Sunday.

We take 'em one at a time here in the NFC West, not that there were other choices.

My flight to Chicago is boarding shortly. Here at the gate, I've seen several Seattle fans, met one admitted follower of the NFC West blog, hung out with one Seahawks beat writer (John Boyle of the Everett Herald) and thanked the gate agent nice enough to find an exit row for my 6-foot-4 frame.

Not that I'm foreshadowing an exit from the playoffs for Seattle. The Bears should probably win at home if both teams play well, but it's not a huge surprise if the Seahawks do what they've already done once this season -- win at Soldier Field when conventional wisdom said they would not.

Enjoy your Saturday.
