Edgerrin James' contract agreement with the Seahawks should become a signing soon now that his agent is at team headquarters.
As the chart notes, James averaged more than 6.7 yards per carry against the Seahawks last season, his highest average against any regular-season opponent. His season-long run of 35 yards came against Seattle in Week 17.
Those wanting to analyze James across situations and personnel groups can download this Excel file featuring every one of his regular-season carries. The file allows for sorting by 29 columns, including down, distance, yard line, yards gained, etc.
It's also possible to sort runs by personnel groups, adjusting for the number of tight ends, running backs and wide receivers on the field.
James carried only three times on third down, by my count. He carried seven times on second-and-1, converting every time. Those strike me as highly favorable short-yardage situations for a running back. Tim Hightower was the choice for Arizona in traditional short-yardage situations (third down).
