The San Francisco 49ers and the rest of the NFC West ducked out while the year's top NFL free agent reached agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Not to worry, NFC West fans.

Your teams will see plenty of Nnamdi Asomugha this season, beginning when the St. Louis Rams visit the Eagles in Week 1.

The 49ers take their turn when Philadelphia visits Candlestick Park in Week 4.

The Arizona Cardinals visit Philadelphia in Week 10, a chance for Kevin Kolb to lead his new team against a secondary now featuring Asomugha and former Cardinals Pro Bowler Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

The Eagles visit Seattle for a Thursday night game in Week 13.

I thought the 49ers would have been wise to consider signing Asomugha, and they reportedly made a push. After playing for a struggling Oakland team, however, he's joining a team with an established head coach, quarterback and playoff pedigree.
