Kids in this country prefer to get their frozen confections from the neighborhood ice-cream truck.
Why pay $2 for a single item when a box of 12 costs scarcely more at the grocery store? If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand.
St. Louis Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo gets it. His decision to surprise players by having an ice-cream truck drive onto the field during practice Saturday stands as the coolest move by an NFC West coach this summer.
The only complaint was a small one. The "truck" was actually a van. But Spagnuolo kidded that he was happy as long as big defensive tackle Fred Robbins was happy.
"Last time, we just brought them on in boxes and stuff, so we progressed," Spagnuolo told reporters. "Did they like the Bomb Pops? That’s the key. If they liked it, it worked."
