We're down to the final NFC West exhibition game of the 2009 season when the 49ers visit the Chargers for a 10 p.m. ET kickoff Friday night.

Generally this is where I'd offer thoughts on position battles to monitor or players to follow. But with 49ers coach Mike Singletary saying only one or two jobs might be on the line, and with the same issues recurring from game to game, this one feels anticlimactic.

The 49ers have settled their quarterback race in Shaun Hill's favor. They have settled their situation at right tackle in Adam Snyder's favor. They are considering options at cornerback between Dre By, Tarell Brown and Shawntae Spencer. They would love to see Manny Lawson break out as a pass rusher. They need to choose a third-string tight end, but I'm not sure anything they'll see against the Chargers will prove pivotal on that front.

The 49ers know who they are, and the rest is details. That is the mindset Singletary has espoused. That might also explain why this fourth and final exhibition game feels less important (more meaningless?).

NFL Network will not replay this game until Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET. I'll watch it and consider providing observations, but by then the 53-man roster limit will be in effect (deadline 6 p.m. ET).
