If you've been to Cardinals training camp, you've probably seen how far quarterback Kurt Warner will go to please fans.
The time he takes to sign autographs and interact goes beyond the norm, particularly for a player with multiple Pro Bowls and Super Bowls on his resume. Warner is similarly accommodating with reporters, benefiting fans indirectly. I shared one example in April. Here is another:
NFL media policy requires teams to make available the head coach and one player for weekly in-season conference calls with reporters. Reporters request star players, often quarterbacks, and some teams decline to make them available consistently. Warner? He participated in 17 of the Cardinals' 19 weekly conference calls from Week 1 through the NFC Championship Game -- every one except when Arizona played rematches against the 49ers and Seahawks.
Arizona Republic beat reporter Kent Somers presented Warner with the Professional Football Writers of America's "Good Guy Award" at a recent Cardinals preseason game. Getting Warner to cooperate wasn't a problem.
