The Seahawks were the only NFC West team to draw first-, second-, third- and fourth-place projections from ESPN.com panelists, as detailed on our season preview page for Arizona. Eight first-place projections were enough for the Cardinals to emerge as NFC West favorites among the 14 panelists.

ESPN's John Clayton picked the Cardinals to win the division, despite some concerns. "The curse of the Super Bowl loser -- which has affected every runner-up in the 2000s except the Seahawks -- makes it hard to think the Cardinals will win 10 or more games," Clayton wrote. "Ken Whisenhunt needs Kurt Warner and the team to stay as healthy as they did last season. Whiz also has to make sure the Cardinals are more sound on defense."

The preview page features:
  • Strengths and weaknesses, by Scouts Inc.
  • Scouts Inc. video with Jeremy Green
  • 14 predicted division finishes with explanations
  • Draft class watch
  • Best of the Cardinals
  • Scouts Inc.'s Fabulous Five
  • Fantasy stars
  • SportsNation Poll: Is Beanie Wells and upgrade or a downgrade from Edgerrin James?
My take: "The Cardinals need more consistency on defense and a stronger commitment to the running game. They also need Kurt Warner to defy age once again."
