An apology and belated congratulations go out to macklinr for correctly predicting the San Francisco 49ers' 24-23 upset victory at Philadelphia two weeks ago.

My oversight. Way to go, Ron (his real name).

We had no winners from Week 5, and that was understandable.

The 49ers' 48-3 victory over Tampa Bay was far more lopsided than anticipated (the only 48-3 prediction I saw, from Lock.Down, had Seattle losing by that score). Even the most optimistic Seahawks fan wouldn't have foreseen the odd final score -- 36-25 -- for the team's upset victory over the New York Giants. It was also tough envisioning Arizona losing by a 34-10 count at previously winless Minnesota.

As usual, no extra credit for predicting bye-week defeats for the NFC West teams you love to hate. I'll make my predictions on the blog Friday.
